2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 25
Villarreal v Valencia
Estadio de la Ceramica
Villarreal, Spain
Sunday, 22 February 2026
Kick-off is at 22h00
Villarreal will be determined to get their top-three challenge back on track when Valencia visit La Ceramica on Sunday, February 22 in the late-kick-off.
The Yellow Submarine had emerged as potential title contenders after making their best-ever start in La Liga by winning 11 of their opening 15 matches.
But their season began to unravel following a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona on December 21 and Marcelino's side have only won three of their seven games in 2026.
A 2-1 loss to Getafe on February 14 left the Castellon outfit behind Atletico Madrid on goal difference in fourth place, with both teams tied on 45 points.
However, Villarreal have a chance to go above Los Colchoneros when they travel to relegation-threatened Levante on February 18 which is a catch-up fixture from matchday 16.

Los Ches' form has picked up in the new year after they doubled their win tally for the campaign with victories over Los Azulones (1-0), Espanyol (3-2) and, most recently, the Frogs (2-0).
Carlos Corberan's side arrested a two-match losing streak with their derby success at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia on February 15 which saw them pull two points clear of the relegation zone in 14th spot.
Valencia haven't beaten Villarreal in their last four meetings and they suffered a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture on October 25.

Marcelino conceded that his players weren't able to adapt to the conditions in Getafe as the opposition took full advantage of the mistakes they made, adding that it would be another valuable lesson learned.
"It was very clear what kind of game it would be. With wind, on an uneven pitch... but those are circumstances you have to adapt to," he said.
"We knew what we had to do to win and we didn't do enough. Getafe did more and also took advantage of our mistakes. On our side, we needed more movement and more depth.
"Today we couldn't play in line with our usual style, but we had to adapt. It's another lesson learned. Now we have to recover, because in four days we have another match (against Levante)."
