Reigning US Open champion J.J. Spaun is the second-highest-ranked player in the field for the Valspar Championship and one of six in the OWGR top 20 competing at Innisbrook Resort.
The American won the first Major of his career at Oakmont in June 2025, and with that has come expectations and pressure to contend for more titles.
Spaun enjoyed a good finish to last season, claiming second place in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, sixth place in the Procore Championship, and T4 in the Hero World Challenge.
But the 35-year-old has struggled to embrace his newfound success this year, missing the cut in the Farmers Insurance Open, the Genesis Invitational, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Spaun's best performance in the opening three months of 2026 came at the Players Championship (T24), and he admits he needs to stop thinking about results and focus more on his game.
"I just need to get back to playing my game and not caring about results and just working hard," he said.
"And I think the toughest thing this year will be mentally having acceptance with whatever happens. And try not to hang my head too much on the expectations.
"I mean, I've never been in this position before. Last year was just a crazy ride that I was rolling with, and I felt like I couldn't be stopped, but we'll see how it goes."
