Group B
Matchday 3
Italy v Spain

Stadion Wankdorf
Bern, Switzerland
Friday, 11 July 2025
Kick-off is at 21h00

Spain's 100 per cent record at Euro 2025 will come under threat when they lock horns with Italy at the Stadion Wankdorf on Friday, July 11.

La Roja lead the way in Group B on six points and they are the top scorers in the tournament by a country mile after hitting the back of the net 11 times already.

Montserrat Tome's side thrashed Iberian neighbours Portugal 5-0 on July 3 and followed it up with a 6-2 demolition of Belgium four days later.

The reigning world champions have qualified for the quarter-finals at least in each of their four previous appearances at the continental showpiece, while they went one step further to the semi-finals in 1997.

The Blues have all but secured their place in the knockout stages as they are three points clear of the Portuguese in second position with a far superior goal difference.

Andrea Soncin's side kicked off their campaign in Switzerland with a narrow 1-0 win over the Red Flames on July 3 before being held to a 1-1 draw by Portugal on July 7.

Italy goalkeeper Laura Giuliani has hailed their versatility under Soncin as they've been able to adapt to each opponent and have kept 12 clean sheet in their last 24 games.

"We've been on a journey where, in every match, we've managed to adapt to our opponents while still maintaining our own playing identity. We're a compact and versatile team, able to change our approach at any moment," Giuliani said.

Tome indicated that she could change things up against the Italians, with Aitana Bonmatí expected to play a bigger part after she was given a 45-minute runout in the rout of Belgium.

"Italy will be a tough game and we have to see how to use other players [while] trying to keep the plan with the specificities of the players but continue being Spain," she said.

"I think we have the luxury of having so many options because this allows us to create solutions depending on the moment."

Head-to-Head:

Matches - 10
Italy wins - 4
Spain wins - 3
Draws - 3
