Defending champions Real Madrid will take on Shakhtar Donetsk in a UEFA Champions League Group C match on October 5.
 
The Spanish champions secured a comfortable 2-0 win over RB Leipzig of Germany in their last match in this competition on September 14.
 
As a result, the Whites are unbeaten in their last four matches in the Champions League having recorded four wins in a row.

Madrid are also undefeated in their two matches at home in this tournament having registered two successive as the hosts. 
 
“The game wasn’t good, we wanted to play to win, and the defensive awareness was good, so I didn’t push the midfielders much forward," Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said.
 
“The fatigue that gripped the opposition allowed us to put more pressure on us and we deserved to win. I have players who are smart enough to win matches.” 
 
"We hope to get ahead of the opponent before the match is almost over. Leipzig has had a morale boost since Sunday after beating [Borussia] Dortmund with a very good performance, so we had some worries about this match, but we got over it."

Meanwhile, Shakhtar were held to a 1-1 draw by Scottish champions Celtic FC at home in their previous game in the Champions League on September 14.
 
Therefore, the Ukrainian giants are undefeated in their last three matches in this competition having recorded two draws and a victory. 
 
Shakhtar defeated RB Leipzig in their last away match on the road in this tournament and the win ended their three-match winless run as the away side.
 
The last meeting between Madrid and Shakhtar in the Champions League was on 3 November 2021.
 
Madrid were made to sweat for a 2-1 win over Shakhtar in a match that took place at the iconic Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
