Most recent race

At the Malaysian MotoGP on 1 November, the man nicknamed the Ant of Cervera put on a masterclass performance by storming to a win at Sepang.

Márquez carved through the field on Sunday to take the chequered flag, securing crucial championship points and extending his command over the title chase.

MotoGP ambitions

The Ant of Cervera leads the 2026 MotoGP riders’ standings with 399 points and stands as the primary favourite to seal the crown.

To wrap up the world title in Qatar with two rounds to spare, Márquez needs to stretch his lead over Jorge Martín (355 pts) past 74 points while maintaining a 75-point cushion over third-placed Marco Bezzecchi.

Why Márquez could win the Qatar MotoGP

The 33-year-old has been the dominant force of the 2026 campaign, piling up seven Grand Prix win and seven podium finishes.

Fresh off his decisive win in Sepang, Márquez possesses supreme confidence and matchless experience under the Lusail floodlights as he aims to capture another Qatari GP win.

Quotes

“The goal for today was to lead from start to finish. Based on the previous sessions, it was clear that my pace was good and I felt comfortable," Márquez said after winning the 2026 Malaysian MotoGP.

"Luckily, Alex (Márquez) went wide at Turn 4 after trying to overtake me.Apart from that moment, I focused solely on riding at my own pace, and I’m happy with the 34 points scored this weekend. We have reached the point in the season where we need to think about the overall situation.

"We’re leading the championship and there are very few races left, but the job isn’t done yet and there are still many moments to come.”
