Spanish tennis icon Rafael Nadal will be looking to clinch his maiden Nitto ATP Finals title
 
The 34-year-old player is ranked world number two in the world by the ATP and he has been ranked world number one in the ATP rankings for 209 weeks.
 
Nadal has won 35 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles, 21 ATP Tour 500 titles and two Olympic gold medals, but he has never lifted the ATP Finals trophy.

The year 2020 has been a good year for Nadal as he won the his third Mexican Open title, defeating Taylor Fritz in straights sets in the final.
 
The Mallorca-born player then clinched his 13th Roland Garros title, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the tournament's final.

His 20th Grand Slam title, equalled Roger Federer's record as the man with the most number of Grand Slam titles.
 
Nadal has reached the ATP Finals final twice in 2010 and 2013 and he will be eager to win the tournament for the first time this year.

At the 2020 Paris Masters, Nadal defeated Feliciano López in the second round to get his 1,000 win in the ATP Tour and he became the fourth man in the Open Era to achieve it.
 
However, Nadal lost to Alexander Zverev in straight sets in the semi-finals and he has discussed hs form heading into the ATP Finals. 
 
“I said before have been not a bad tournament. I spent hours on court. Of course, I wanted to win the tournament, but it’s always difficult,” Nadal said. 
 
“To play four matches […] will be helpful for London.
 
“I need to adjust a couple of things, but I’m doing well on all the important things, no? I have one week and a little bit more to keep working, and I hope be ready for it.”
