2024-25 Italian Serie A
Matchday 37
Inter Milan v Lazio

San Siro
Milan, Italy
Sunday, 18 May 2025
Kick-off is at 15h00

Inter Milan will be looking to keep their Serie A title defence alive when they welcome Lazio to the San Siro in the penultimate round of the season on Sunday, May 18.

The Nerazzurri took full advantage of Napoli's slip-up against Genoa on May 11 by beating Torino 2-0 to close within a point of the league leaders in second place.

Simone Inzaghi's side thought they had blown their chances after suffering back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Bologna and Roma at the end of last month to relinquish the lead to the Partenopei.

But Inter rallied to claim successive victories over Verona and the Bull, meaning the Scudetto is still very much up for grabs with two fixtures left to play.

The Eagles have made a late push for UEFA Champions League football after losing just one of their last 10 games and they're vying with Juventus (4th), Roma (6th) and Bologna (7th) for a top-four finish.

Marco Baroni's side draw 1-1 with Juve on May 10 to go level with the Turin giants on 64 points, while extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

The Giallorossi are a further point back ahead of their clash with Atalanta on May 12 and an upset at the Gewiss Stadium could see them climb into the driver's seat.

Inzaghi was pleased to end Torino's nine-game unbeaten sequence on home soil and is demanding more of the same intensity for Inter's final two outings.

"Hopes for the league? Unfortunately, it's not in our hands. All we can do is play like we did today," the Italian said. "We needed a solid performance today: Torino haven't lost at home in nine games, they're a strong side.

"Worrying will not help us, we need to play as we have always done and as we did today."

Baroni has called on his players to keeping fighting until the very last in a bid to qualify for Europe's elite club competition again after missing out in 2023-24.

"I am pleased with the performance, naturally not the result because we wanted to win, but the team is alive, kicking, and will fight to the end," the Italian told DAZN.

"We are on a strong journey and when we are still in the fight for fourth at this stage of the season, it means we've made progress."
