Jorge Martin will be keen to bounce back strongly and keep his 2026 MotoGP world title bid alive at the Czechia MotoGP with Aprilia.

Most recent race

The 28-year-old was involved in a dramatic Turn 1 crash at the Hungarian MotoGP on 7 June, taking out teammate Marco Bezzecchi and others, resulting in a DNF.

Martin will serve a double long-lap penalty in Brno after being penalised for causing the incident.

MotoGP ambitions

Nicknamed "Martinator," Martin sits second in the 2026 MotoGP Riders' standings with 160 points.

The Martinator trails championship leader and Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi by 20 points as the intense intra-team title battle continues.

Why Martin could win the Czechia MotoGP

Martin has shown strong form throughout 2026 with consistent podiums and excellent race pace on the Aprilia.

Brno’s fast, sweeping layout with its demanding high-speed corners and elevation changes is expected to play perfectly into Bezzecchi’s aggressive riding style.

The Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer will push hard to convert his season’s pace into a second victory of the season despite the penalty.

Quotes

“I want to apologise to all my fellow riders involved in today's incident during the first lap of the race," Martin said after being forced to retire at the 2026 Hungarian MotoGP.

“I lost control of my bike, and unfortunately, that caused a multi-rider crash that I couldn't avoid. Most importantly, thank God, we are all okay. In situations like this, that's all that really matters.

“I am so sorry for the impact this accident may have had on them, their teams, and their careers. You never want to be involved in a situation like this. Thank you for all the messages of support, for your understanding, and for the respect you showed me today.”
