Oscar Piastri will look to bounce back strongly at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and stay in contention for the 2026 Drivers’ Championship.

The McLaren driver finished a solid fourth in the chaotic Monaco Grand Prix after starting seventh, gaining positions through incidents and penalties.
However, Piastri served a pitlane speeding penalty that cost him a podium and ultimately, finished fourth behind third-placed Isack Hadjar.
Formula One ambitions
Piastri sits fifth in the Drivers’ Championship with 60 points after six races this term.
The 25-year-old trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 96 points with 16 races left in the current season.

Piastri returns to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where he dominated in 2025 by taking pole and winning the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Australian has already shown decent form in 2026 with two podiums and Barcelona has historically suited McLaren’s car characteristics.

"When you make up three spots in Monaco, that's always a good day. Whilst I didn't do the overtaking myself, we did a good job of taking advantage of things playing out ahead of us and being smart with the strategy," Piastri said after the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.
"Getting those 12 points was important. "However, our pace wasn't very strong today, and we need to work out why we have struggled so much this weekend. Looking ahead to Barcelona and further on into the season, we have a lot of work to do to close the gap to the front-runners.
"Thanks to the team for their work, let's see what we can do next weekend."
