World No. 19 Robert MacIntyre will be aiming to become only the eighth player to defend his title at the
Canadian Open from on Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8.
The Scotsman carded a 16-under 264 at the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in 2024 to beat Ben Griffin by one stroke which marked the second PGA Tour win of his career.
The third-oldest continuously running tournament on the circuit has produced 20 multiple champions, but only seven players have recorded back-to-back wins: James Douglas Edgar, Leo Diegel (twice), Sam Snead, Jim Ferrier, Jim Furyk, Jhonattan Vegas and Rory McIlroy.
MacIntyre has achieved three top-10 finishes this year, being T6 at the Phoenix Open, 9th at the Players Championship and again T6 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
During last month's PGA Championship, the 28-year-old admitted the work he has put in over the last 12 months is paying off as he has seen a big improvement from tee to green.
"The work we are doing is going in the right direction and I am trusting the process," MacIntyre told Sky Sports. "It's boring but the process is just trying to get better piece by piece.
"Statistically, I am better than I was last year. It doesn't feel that way but, when you look at the bigger picture, you are getting better and that's all you can ask for.
"I've been playing absolutely superb this year tee to green and just needing that bit spark. I didn't get off to a great start but I kept at it."
