Xander Schauffele will be hoping to become the first golfer to win back-to-back
Open Championships in 17 years, after Pádraig Harrington (2007 and 2008).
What to know about Schauffele
The American star turned professional in 2015 and he has won 12 professional tournaments, including nine PGA Tour events and four European Tour titles.
Schauffele has also won two major championships, both in the same year, the 2024 PGA Championship and the 2024 Open Championship.

The three-time Presidents Cup winner with the USA was in action at the recent 2025 Scottish Genesis Open in Scotland, where he finished eighth.
Schauffele is currently placed third in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and his best overall ranking is second.
Why Schauffele is among the favourites
The 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medallist became the first golfer to win two majors in one season when shooting a final-round 65 at each one at the 2024 Open Championship.
Schauffele, who finished second in the 2018 Open Championship, will be keen to replicate the form that saw him win last year's tournament when he tees off at the Royal Portrush Golf Club.

"I think it's massive across the board," Schauffele said of returning to the UK for this year's Scottish Genesis Open and Open Championship.
"Just hard to replicate any sort of tournament feel back home in the States, where you can hit an iron, the same club, a difference of 50 to 60 yards just based on how you hit it or what kind of wind you get.
"There's only one way to get that done, and it's coming over here.
