2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 22
Levante v Atletico Madrid
Estadio Ciutat de Valencia
Valencia, Spain
Saturday, 31 January 2026
Kick-off is at 19h30
Atletico Madrid will be looking to strengthen their grip on third place in La Liga when they take on relegation-threatened Levante at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia on Saturday, January 31.
Los Colchoneros are one of the in-form teams in the Spanish top flight after extending their unbeaten run to five games with a 3-0 success against Real Mallorca on January 25.
Diego Simeone's side have picked up seven points out of a possible nine in 2026 to climb above Villarreal into third place after the Yellow Submarine suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on January 24.
Atleti are seven points behind Los Blancos and a further one adrift of league leaders Barcelona as they attempt to do the double over the Frogs this season, having beaten them 3-1 at the Metropolitano on August 11.

Levante are in danger of making a swift return to the Segunda Division after losing 11 of their opening 20 matches since earning promotions as champions last term.
Julian Calero was sacked on November 30 after registering just two wins and Luis Castro has already achieved that feat in his first four fixtures at the helm.
Castro's side scored a last-gasp winner to edge Elche 3-2 on January 23 to boost their survival hopes as they closed within five points of safety in 19th position with a game in hand of the clubs around them in the table.

Simeone highlighted the importance that their second goal made against Mallorca, who had held out until the 75th minute after Alexander Sorloth had opened the scoring on 22 minutes.
"When you lead 1-0, it can always get complicated. The result is close, and the difference in the game was big, but it wasn't showing on the scoreboard," he said.
"When that happens, we always go back to the famous forcefulness on both sides. Defensively, we were forceful and offensively we improved compared to Wednesday, with more clarity in seeking goal-scoring opportunities.
"Beyond the three goals, the team generated quite a few important plays to be able to score."
