The two best teams in the Eastern Conference face off when Detroit Pistons welcome New York Knicks to the Little Caesars Arena on the morning of Saturday, February 7.
The Pistons are enjoying an outstanding season and they boast the second-best record in the NBA this season (36-12) to comfortably lead the way in the East.
J. B. Bickerstaff's team have maintained their good run of form in the new year, losing just four of their 15 games and beating the Knicks as recently as January 6.
Detroit routed Brooklyn Nets 130-77 on February 2 to make it back-to-back wins, with Jalen Duren and Cade Cunningham putting up impressive numbers in their biggest margin of victory in franchise history.
Duren posted 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Cunningham added 18 points, 12 assists and four steals as the Pistons led by 55 points at one stage before they won by 53, eclipsing the 52 swing (118-66) set in January 2003 against the Boston Celtics.
Duren has been added to the All-Star roster as an Eastern Conference reserve and Bickerstaff said the nod was recognition for all his hard work this season.
"It was awesome... Being able to work with him is a pleasure every single day. His attitude is the same every single day, his approach is the same, his work ethic is the same," Bickerstaff said.
"His thirst for knowledge and the willingness to want to get better and do the things we ask him to do to help this team win has just been unbelievable."
New York made a stuttering start to 2026, losing four of the spin and nine in total in January before recovering to go second in the Eastern Conference standings.
Mike Brown's team beat Los Angeles Lakers 112-100 on February 2 to extend their winning streak to season-high six games as all five starters reached double figures in points.
OG Anunoby led the way with 25 points, while Jalen Brunson made a season-high 13 assists and added 12 points, leading to praise from Brown after another strong performance in offense.
"Our guys, first of all, they're unselfish as is. But they know when they draw a second defender, that's the right time to find their teammate,” Brown said.
"We all need to keep trying to make the game easy for one another, and that's where the 30 assists come in."
