2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 25

Burnley v Liverpool

Turf Moor
Burnley, England
Sunday, 13 February 2022
Kick-off is at 16h00

Liverpool will look to haul in leaders Manchester City when they travel to Turf Moor for a Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday, February 13.

Jurgen Klopp's side remain the closest challengers to City and have a game in hand as they aim to keep the gap down to single digits.

The Reds recently halted a three-match winless run in the league with back-to-back victories against Brentford (3-0) and Crystal Palace (3-1), while they beat Cardiff 3-1 in the FA Cup fourth round on February 6.

Klopp acknowledged the importance of having a fully-fit squad at his disposal ahead of a busy period in the season, but insisted that getting it right on the pitch was more pertinent.

"We play Thursday against Leicester, we play Sunday against Burnley and then Champions League and all this kind of stuff, so the games are coming really thick and fast and we have to be ready for that," the German said after the cup-tie at Anfield.

"The more players we have fit and available, the better it is, but that doesn't win football games because other teams have good squads as well, so you have then to do the right stuff on the pitch - and that's what we have to do."

The Clarets picked up a vital point in a goalless draw at home to Watford this past weekend, although the threat of relegation still looms large over them.

However, Sean Dyche's men have now gone nine games since their last victory in the top flight and the manager has urged them to keep fighting for every point on offer.

"They are all tough games but you have got to play them all and we know that, it's important that we turn these draws into wins, we know the facts and the situation," Dyche said after the Hornets stalemate.

"Results are the important factor and we have to go and do that again. The draw doesn't change anything, we've kept clean sheets and we need to keep building on. We're in a three-game week so we'll see where we are.

"The challenge is right in front of us. We have been down this road before and maybe it's about performances, and we have to keep building with the mentality."
