Zesco United Maintain Top Spot as Nkana Finally Win at Nkana Stadium

The MTN Super League rolled to life delivering some exciting results during the Week 14 round of matches. Thirteen-time champions Nkana secured their third victory of the season, while Zesco United handed FC MUZA their second loss at Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka.

Zesco United triumphed 3-1, with Enock Sakala scoring two goals in the eighth and 33rd minutes, and Mubanga Kapamba sealing the win in the 63rd minute. FC MUZA salvaged one goal in the 90th minute through Andrew Phiri.

With this victory, ZESCO United claimed the top spot in the FAZ MTN Super League and now aims for one more win in three games to secure an ABSA Cup spot. Meanwhile, FC MUZA dropped from third to fourth on goal difference after conceding three goals against Red Arrows.

In Kitwe, Nkana celebrated their third win of the season, defeating Green Buffaloes 2-1. However, this victory wasn't sufficient to lift Nkana out of the relegation zone.

In Ndola, Mwenya Chipepo led Forest Rangers to a 1-0 victory over Power Dynamos, with Moyela Libamba finding the net in the 16th minute.

Nkoloma Stadium witnessed two draws, with Zanaco FC tying 1-1 with Green Eagles in an early kickoff. Later in the day, Red Arrows faced Kabwe Warriors, resulting in another one-all draw, with scores arriving within two minutes late in the second half. Fred Michaels of Green Eagles scored his ninth goal of the season, but Isaac Shamujompa equalized, leading to a point-sharing outcome.

At Arthur Davies Stadium, Mutondo Stars ended their five-game losing streak by defeating Kansanshi Dynamos 2-0, with their last victory dating back to October 21, 2023.

Trident continued their trend of draws, securing their ninth in fourteen games. Despite being winless, they remain at the bottom of the league standings, with a slight gap from the clubs above them. They are just one win away from catching up with 17th-placed Nkana.

Notably, no team has officially qualified for an ABSA Cup spot at this stage.
