Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas will be hoping to bounce back at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Finnish driver is coming off a disappointing race at the Eifel Grand Prix where he was forced to retire.

Bottas, who is the 2019 Formula One runner-up, will now be eager to get back on track in the race for this season's Formula One world title.

His teammate Lewis Hamilton won the most recent race which was the Eifel Grand Prix two weeks ago.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo finished second and third respectively at the Eifel Grand Prix.

Hamilton is still placed at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings as he looks to successfully defend his world title.

Bottas is still placed second on the standings, while Verstappen is also remaining third after 11 races in the current campaign.

Bottas felt that he had a good chance of winning in Germany, but ultimately, he was forced to retire with an unexplained power unit issue.

"I had all the chance for the win," Bottas said as he reflected on his performance at the Eifel Grand Prix.

"Because that made me commit to a two-stop quite early, and I think a two-stop at the end was the best strategy.

"I knew there was all to play for, even after that lock-up in the drizzle. Then the engine thing, I couldn't believe it."

Mercedes are still placed at the top of Constructors' standings followed by second-placed Red Bull and third-placed Racing Point.
