With just one win to his name so far this year, Luke Truter will now turn his attention to the Big Easy Tour 8 at the Benoni Lake Golf Club this week where he will hope to close the gap on the likes of Leon Visser and Daniel Smith on the leaderboard.
Truter has been among the busiest golfers in South Africa this year, as he prepares for the Big Easy Tour 8 sitting in fifth position on the standings with 479.57 points from 12 tournaments.
The 23-year-old South African’s best outing came at the Betway Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 5 where he finished in first position at the Eye of Africa Signature Golf Estate last month.
Truter’s showing at the Betway Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 5 was supplemented by a bogey-free 7-under-par 65 in the second-round, paving the way to be just one shot off the lead heading into the final day.
While Truter was on top form at the Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 5, the South African prospect claimed fourth position at the Big Easy Tour 2 in what was his second best outing for the year.
Apart from placing 10th at the Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 3, Truter finished outside the Top 10 in six separate tournaments while he missed cut at the Big Easy Tour 7 earlier this year.
Nonetheless, Truter is currently ranked 2095th in the world, just five places off his highest placing of his career.
