2025-26 La Liga

Matchday 35

Mallorca v Villarreal

Iberostar Stadium, Mallorca

Sunday 10 May, 14:00

Mallorca will chase key points in their bid for La Liga survival when they host Villarreal at the Iberostar Stadium on the afternoon of Sunday 10 May 2026, kick-off at 14:00.

Mallorca picked up a third win from their last five La Liga outings when they defeated Girona 1-0 away from home last Friday – a result which has left them in 15th place on the log, two points above the relegation zone.

Los Piratas are unbeaten in their last four home matches and will hope to continue their upswing under the guidance of manager Martin Demichelis, who recently received the backing of midfielder Sergi Darder.

“At this point, I think we needed someone like Martín – a coach with a lot of character, with his own ego, who knows he has to lay down the law, who still needs to make a name for himself,” explained Darder.

“Not as a player, obviously, because he’s got more experience and a bigger career than all of us put together, but as a coach, he’s just starting out and he’s incredibly motivated. He’s made things clear, adapted well to what he had, and I think it was the right decision.”

Villarreal manager Marcelino has got a personal record of his own to preserve here, having avoided defeat against Mallorca since his return to the Villarreal dugout in 2023-24. He’s set to depart the club in a matter of weeks after booking the Yellow Submarine’s second consecutive UEFA Champions League campaign with their 5-1 thrashing of Levante last weekend. All that is left to do is keep Atlético Madrid from surpassing them into third place.

In head-to-head stats, Mallorca and Villarreal have met in 51 matches across all competitions. The Yellow Submarine have claimed 23 wins compared to 16 for Los Piratas, while 12 games have been drawn.

The teams last met in La Liga in November 2025 at La Ceramica Stadium, with Villarreal winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Gerard Moreno and Tani Oluwaseyi.
