Cameron Young will be keen to keep up his winning momentum when he competes at the PGA Tour’s Truist Championship, set for the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 May 2026.
The American, who turns 29 on the first day of the tournament, earned an early birthday present when he triumphed at the Cadillac Championship last week – a wire-to-wire 19-under 269 at the Trump National Doral to claim the title by six strokes ahead of world No1 Scottie Scheffler.
It was Young’s third career PGA Tour triumph, and he will look to go one better than his best showing at the Truist Championship (formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship), which was in 2022 when he finished as co-runner-up alongside Keegan Bradley and Matt Fitzpatrick, behind champion Max Homa.
"I think the self-belief just continues to build," Young said in the wake of his Cadillac Championship triumph. "I put myself in plenty of good places over the course of the last four, five years. Recently, I've started to come out on the better side of it.
"So, yeah, just excited for the next few weeks and moving on toward Charlotte [for the Truist Championship] and then the PGA [Championship].”
The main threats to Young’s hopes of a first Truist Championship triumph will come from Masters Tournament champion Rory McIlroy (who will be returning to competitive action after a month off, and is a record four-time champion of this event), defending champion Sepp Straka, as well as the likes of Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose, while Scheffler has chosen to skip this event as he targets the upcoming PGA Championship.
