2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 15
Athletic Bilbao v Atletico Madrid
Estadio San Mames
Bilbao, Spain
Saturday, 6 December 2025
Kick-off is at 22h00
Atletico Madrid will be targeting more of the same when they make the trip to northern Spain for a clash with Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on Saturday, December 6 in the late kick-off.
Los Colchoneros did the league double over the Lions last season, triumphing 1-0 both home and away to extend their winning streak in this match-up to three games.
Diego Simeone's side have gone on an impressive run in
La Liga to emerge as potential title contenders after losing just once in the opening four months of the campaign.
That defeat (2-1 against Espanyol) came on the opening weekend and Atleti have embarked on a 13-match unbeaten run to close within three points of table-topping Barcelona in fourth place.
A 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo on November 29 was their sixth win on the spin and the Madrid giants have opened up a comfortable seven-point gap to Real Betis (5th) and Espanyol (6th).

But first Atletico will have to navigate a midweek encounter against the Blaugrana on December 2 which could blow the title race wide open.
The Basque outfit are looking to build on their 2-0 success against Levante on November 29 after struggling for results in recent weeks, although they too will be involved in midweek with a clash against Real Madrid on December 3.
Ernesto Valverde's side are some 11 points adrift of the UEFA Champions League berths in eighth position following a poor recent run which saw them lose three of their last five outings.

Simeone insists he is always thinking about the present and has urged his players to maintain their levels of consistency in a bid to stay in the mix for the league crown.
"I don't dwell on these situations. Football is always about the present, the next game, the moment when you have to play against whoever you have to play against, and there is an obligation and a responsibility to do well," the Argentine said.
"We need to improve, we need to maintain consistency, above all, which is the most difficult thing in this competition, which is very long and very tough and very difficult and has its ups and downs."
