Suzuki rider Joan Mir will be targeting nothing but a victory when he participates in the Aragon MotoGP

The Spanish star, who is the reigning MotoGP world champion, secured a podium finish in last year's Aragon MotoGP as he finished third following an entertaining race.

Mir produced a poor performance by his own standards in the most recent race in the current campaign which was the British MotoGP where he finished ninth on August 29.

The 2021 British MotoGP saw Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo, who has been the most consistent rider this term, claim his fifth win of the current season.

The French star was followed by the Alex Rins of Suzuki and Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro, who finished second and third respectively.

Quartararo is still placed at the top of the 2021 Riders' standings, while Ducati rider Johann Zarco is placed third on the standings.

Mir is now placed second on the standings - 65 points behind Quartararo and he will be determined to close the gap on the leader.

“Yes, the checkered flag hasn’t been done, this is clear, but yes, I was disappointed today,” Mir said when asked if the championship was out of reach after the British MotoGP.

“I got some fourth positions that couldn’t be on the podium. But to be honest, I’m not really optimistic today, because what happened is really strange and it’s not clear to me what happened today.

“So we have to understand.”

Yamaha are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Ducati and KTM respectively.
