The Championships, Wimbledon
1-14 July 2019
All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London
Novak Djokovic will target more Grand Slam glory when the 2019 Wimbledon Championships gets underway on 1 July at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London.
The Serbian is the defending Wimbledon champion, having beaten South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in the 2018 final to win his fourth title at the prestigious Grand Slam.
Djokovic comes into the tournament after a frustrating semifinal exit at the French Open, where he was defeated in five sets by Austria’s Dominic Thiem.
The loss saw the 32-year-old miss out on the chance to hold all four Grand Slam titles for the second time in his career.
Djokovic is the favourite and number 1 seed for Wimbledon 2019, but he faces a threat from old foes Rafael Nadal (the French Open champion), Roger Federer and the likes of Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Kei Nishikori.
Nonetheless, a 16
th Grand Slam title appears to be there for the taking for Djokovic, who is a crowd favourite at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
