As two sides progressing at the top end of the La Liga table, Alaves and Osasuna will now shake hands at Mendizorroza during matchday three this weekend.
Sitting in fourth position on the table, Alaves are yet to lose a game this season, having gathered seven points from their first three ties.
Alaves started their campaign in stunning fashion, claiming a 3-0 win over Getafe on home soil. Then, following a 1-1 draw alongside Rayo Vallecano, Alaves bounced back with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Villareal during matchday three.
Not far behind, fifth-placed Osasuna made amends for their matchday one 0-0 draw with Levante with consecutive wins thereafter.
Following a 2-1 win against Celta Vigo in their second league match, Osasuna secured a 1-0 home victory against Getafe to accumulate seven points for the campaign.
Looking ahead to more positive results, Alaves were pleased with their win over Villareal, keeping maximum points firmly in mind.
“Alaves managed to maintain their lead and withstand the attacks of Villarreal, who relentlessly sought an equalizer,” Alaves explained in their website match report.
“However, thanks to an outstanding performance from Antonio Sivera and solid defending from Alavés, the three points ultimately stayed in Vitoria-Gasteiz."
