2024-25 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 35
Real Betis v Osasuna
Estadio Benito Villamarin
Seville, Spain
Sunday, 11 May 2025
Kick-off is at 21h00
UEFA Champions League hopefuls Real Betis will be keen to keep the momentum going when they host Osasuna at the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Sunday, May 11.
The Andalusian outfit are making a late push for a top-five finish in
La Liga after winning eight of their last 10 matches and dropping just five points in the process.
Manuel Pellegrini's side battled back from behind to beat Espanyol 2-1 on May 4 - their third win on the spin which allowed them to close within four points of Athletic Bilbao in sixth place.
Both Betis and Villarreal (5th) made gains on the Lions, who could only manage a 0-0 draw with Basque rivals Real Sociedad after seeing the Yellow Submarine cruise to a 4-2 victory over Osasuna and slash the gap to just three points.
Los Rojillos are fighting for European football themselves and they're in a three-way tie with Rayo Vallecano (8th) and Real Mallorca (10th) on 44 points.
Vicente Moreno's side saw a three-match winning streak come to an end with the loss at Villarreal, placing them just two points shy of Celta Vigo (7th) for qualification to the Europa League.
Real Sociedad (11th) and Valencia (12th) are also still in the mix a further one and two points behind the team from Pamplona respectively.
Isco has become a lynchpin in Pellegrini's system since reuniting with the Chilean at Betis, 12 years after they worked together at Malaga.
"He's a coach who still believes in the attacking midfielder role," Isco said. "The role of an attacking midfielder has been disappearing. In the end, football evolves and coaches look to innovate.
"It's a shame because I love this type of football. The street football, doing what comes naturally to you. He wants me to have the ball, to make the team play... When he called me to come here, I was happy. I hope we can do great things here together."
Moreno is hoping to bring European nights to El Sadar to give something back to the club's fans for the support they've shown this season.
"We feel bad for our people. You saw them, like always, supporting us up in the stands," the Spaniard said. "They're hopeful we can stay in the fight and maybe even improve our position.
"It wasn't possible this week, but there are still four matches left. We're still in it, and now we have to focus on the next match - on winning it. If we do, I'm sure we'll feel a lot better next week."
