Following an unfortunate crash at the British MotoGP last time out, Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura will now look ahead to the Aragon MotoGP with a point to prove as he trails the Aprilia leading pack.
As it stands, Ogura occupies third position on the rider’s standings with 203 points following the mid-season break.
Set to join Yamaha next year, Ogura noted four podiums so far this season while his only win of the campaign came at the Dutch MotoGP at the TT Circuit in June.
Ogura endured a mixed bag of results in the most recent MotoGP event at Silverstone, where he finished second in the sprint race before crashing in lap 10 of the final race.
Reflecting on the Silverstone crash, Ogura took ownership of his ‘mistake’ after he lost the front end of his bike at the final chicane.
“The crash was just a small mistake – a bit more angle with the same amount of brake pressure and I locked the front and crashed,” Ogura said.
“It’s a shame that I made this kind of mistake but, after the bad start, I was making my way to recover positions, which was quite difficult. I wasn’t really fast enough at that stage of the race and pushed in the wrong place, wrong moment.
“I feel like I could have done a much better race and overall the weekend was good, I think. I’m not happy with myself because my approach to the main race wasn’t correct so, a lot to learn from this weekend and we keep going.”
