Valtteri Bottas looks for return to peak form

2019 Formula 1 season, Round 7

Canadian Grand Prix

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal

Sunday 9 June 2019

Valtteri Bottas will look for a return to his peak form in the 2019 Formula 1 season when Round 7, the Canadian Grand Prix, is held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on Sunday 9 June.

Bottas became the first Mercedes driver to finish outside of the top two this season when he came home in third place at the Monaco GP last month.

Valtteri Bottas finished second at the Canadian GP last year

As a result, the Finn has seen the gap between himself and Drivers’ Championship leader Lewis Hamilton extend to 17 points, and he cannot afford to allow his teammate to continue pulling away if he is to remain in title contention.

Bottas has enjoyed some good results at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, including a second-place finish at last year’s edition, and he will hope to win in Canada for the first time in his career come Sunday afternoon.

Bottas is placed second on the Drivers’ Championship standings

Bottas’ hopes will rest on having a strong qualifying and getting off the line quickly – something he has been unable to do effectively in the last two races, allowing Hamilton to enjoy control from early on.
