USA target six FIBA World Cup title

USA will be looking to clinch their sixth FIBA World Cup title with China set to host the tournament between 31 August and 15 September.

They are the defending champions having won the FIBA World Cup title in 1954, 1986, 1994, 2010 and 2014 making them the most successful team in the history of the competition.
 
USA will be under the guidance of Gregg Popovich, who has appointed Donovan Mitchell as team captain.
 
They are Group E are along with Asian side Japan and European nations Czech Republic, and Turkey.

This year's tournament will be played in three stages and during the first stage, the 32 qualified teams will be sorted into eight groups of four (A-H).
 
Each team in a group will play the other three teams once and the top two teams from each group will then advance to the second group stage.

In the second group stage, there will be four groups of four (I-L) made up of the teams that advanced from the first round, again playing each other once. 
 
The top two teams from groups I to L will qualify for the final knockout phase.
