While they have been almost unstoppable on the road this season, United have been unable to replicate the same sort of form at home but head into the match having recorded a much needed win at Old Trafford in their most recent encounter at the venue.

The Red Devils thumped Leeds United 6-2 before Christmas in a dominating display and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was suitably pleased.

"Just imagine if there were 75 000 people in, it would have gone down in history as one of the great performances against Leeds," he told Sky Sports in the aftermath. "We had to earn the right by running as much as them, that's a challenge. It could have been 12-4 – It's that kind of game."

But the Norwegian refused to get carried away by the result considering how unpredictable the season has been thus far.

"We are not even at the halfway point," he added. "The league position is not something we look at. We look at the improvement of the team. Now we are getting fitter and stronger. Our fans needed that one."

Wolves head to Old Trafford having lost their last two away fixtures. A 4-0 loss to Liverpool was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Burnley as they too continue to struggle for consistency this season.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 0-0 draw while they also shared the spoils at Molineux Stadium in a 1-1 stalemate. Anthony Martial's opener was followed by a Ruben Neves equaliser.
