The Dallas Mavericks will face the Los Angeles Lakers in a
National Basketball Association (NBA) match at the American Airlines Center on April 23.
This will be the 162nd meeting between the two former NBA champions and the Lakers have the upper hand.
The Lakers have dominated this rivalry having registered 114 wins compared to the Mavericks' 48 victories.
Their last meeting was on 26 December 2020 and the Lakers secured a 138-115 victory over the Mavericks at the Staples Center.
The Mavericks find themselves on the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings having recorded 30 wins and 26 defeats.
They suffered a 121-107 defeat to Sacramento Kings in their last home game which was played on 19 April 2021.
They are now winless in their last four matches at home having registered four consecutive defeats at the American Airlines Center.

Rick Carlisle, the Mavericks head coach, says they treat every match like a playoff game as they prepare for their clash with the Lakers.
“Every game must be treated as a playoff game. All these teams are playing their butts off. Even teams that are out of it," Carlisle said.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are placed fifth on the Western Conference standings having recorded 35 wins and 23 defeats.
They claimed a 101-93 win over Charlotte Hornets in their last away match which took place on 14 April 2021.
It was the Lakers' third win in their last five matches on the road, while the other two games ended in defeat.
