As a previous winner of the PGA Players’ Championship, Justin Thomas will hope to come out on top at the event once more in what will be only his second start in 2026.
What to know about Justin Thomas
The 32-year-old heads into the Players’ Championship as a former winner, after claiming the trophy back in 2021, while he was also ranked at number one in the world in May 2018.
Thomas turned professional in 2013 after becoming the third-youngest player to make the cut in a PGA Tour event at the age of 16 years, three months, and 24 days.
The American golfer has two amateur wins: the 2010 Terra Cotta Invitational and the 2012 Jones Cup Invitational.
However, Thomas currently has 16 wins on the PGA Tour, four victories on the European Tour, two wins on the Asian Tour, and one win on the Korn Ferry Tour.
As a top contender in major tournaments, Thomas placed fourth at the 2020 Masters Tournament. His record includes two victories at the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2022, respectively.
The 2017 and 2020 PGA Player of the Year's most recent win came at the 2025 RBC Heritage, where he defeated Andew Novak in a playoff.
What did he say
Speaking ahead of the Players’ Championship, he expressed that he will have to focus on the job at hand despite undergoing a microdiscectomy last November.
“In the big picture, it's like if I struggle at the beginning of the year to come back from this injury and I go win a couple majors this year, like nobody's going to remember that I just shot 14-over at Bay Hill, right?” Thomas said.
“So it's just about just keep plugging away and just keep trying to get better and not let any kind of injury be a hindrance on hopefully a successful career.”
