The
2026 Rocket Classic is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated tournaments on the PGA Tour this year with Russell Henley tipped to make a good impression at the Detroit Golf Club.
Henley, now 37, has come a long way since his days as an amateur and currently sits in fifth position on the World Rankings.
After winning the 2010 Haskins Awards for being the most outstanding collegiate golfer, Henley played in the US Open where he was tied for the low amateur alongside Scott Langley.
As perhaps his most notable achievement before turning professional, Henley took home the 2011 Stadion Classic at UGA and became only the second amateur to gain victory on the Nationwide Tour.
Henley is a nine-time winner as a pro, six of which came on the PGA Tour with three being on the Web.com Tour.
The Georgia-born star already tasted success this year after claiming victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May, finishing with a -12 playoff win over Eric Cole.
As a consistent contender over the years, Henley also recorded wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, World Wide Technology Championship, Shell Houston Open, the Honda Classic and Sony Open in Hawaii between 2013 and 2025.
In addition to his success on the PGA Tour, Henley also won the 2012 Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open and Chiquita Classic on the Web.com Tour.
