Following the conclusion of the group stage at the
2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the likes of South Africa and Nigeria will be among the teams to watch heading into the quarter-finals this coming weekend.
To begin with, South Africa remain on course to defend their WAFCON crown after topping Group C on Monday night.
Banyana Banyana saw out a powerful 4-0 victory against Mali at the Honneur Stadium, which led to their pole position finish in Group C, ahead of Ghana who pipped Mali to second-place after their 4-1 win against Tanzania.
Now though, South Africa will take on Senegal in their respective Quarter-final assignment, which will take place at the Honneur Stadium on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Nigeria ended their group stage obligations with a 0-0 draw alongside Algeria at Stade Larbi Zaouli on Sunday.
As a result, the Super Falcons topped Group B, while Algeria followed suit in second-place.
With their infamous ‘Mission X’ target in full view, Nigeria’s road to winning their 10
th WAFCON title will take another turn when they face Zambia at Stade Larbi Zaouli in their Quarter-final encounter this Friday.
