The
2025 German MotoGP will take place in a town in the Zwickau rural district, Saxony, Germany, called Hohenstein-Ernstthal on July 13.
What to know about the German MotoGP
First held in 1925, the first two German MotoGP events were held at Berlin's AVUS before moving to the new purpose-built Nürburgring.
In 1998, the event was moved to the Sachsenring from Nürburgring and the race is due to take place at the Sachsenring until at least 2026.
Most recent race
The Dutch MotoGP, which was the 10th round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship calendar, took place on June 29.
The race was won by Ducati's Marc Marquez, while Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia finished second and Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati secured the third spot.
Standings
Marc Marquez is still placed at the top of the 2025 MotoGP riders' standings, having won six races in the current season.
His brother, Alex, and Bagnaia are placed second and third, respectively, as the three Ducati riders battle for the MotoGP world championship.
Looking at the constructors' standings, Ducati are placed at the top, having won eight races this season, followed by Aprilia and KTM, respectively.
Favourites
Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez and Bagnaia remain the main contenders for the 2025 Italian MotoGP champion and they are favourites coming into the German MotoGP.
Bezzecchi will be in a buoyant mood after finishing second at the Dutch MotoGP, while Franco Morbidelli of Ducati will be keen to close the gap on the top three riders by winning this weekend's race.

“At the end, the seventh place is a good result on my most difficult race of the year," Morbidelli said after the 2025 Dutch MotoGP.
"Here I’ve always struggled here, and I knew it would happen this weekend too. But we struggled less than I thought, and this is positive. In the first half of the race, I was fighting for the top positions, then I started to struggle with the bike, and I had to slow down.
"I also had a Long Lap Penalty. Now we rest a little bit, and we prepare for Sachsenring, that’s a more suitable track for us.”
