Highlights for Zambia this week at the Olympics

Zambia women's national football team are set to play their first-ever match at the Olympic Games on July 21.
 
Affectionately known as Shepolopolo, Zambia will take on the Netherlands at the Miyagi Stadium in Rifu in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams. 
 
Shepolopolo will then square off with the 1996 Olympic Games silver medalist China at the same venue on July 24. 
 
In the African qualifier of 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, they defeated Cameroon in the final round and qualified for the global tournament.
 
Bruce Mwape, the Zambia women's national team coach, says his side are the underdogs, but he is hopeful that they can go far in the competition.
 
"We are not going there as underdogs, but we are also going there as one of the favorites," Mwape said.
 
"We are confident because just qualifying for the Olympics is a sign that hope is there that we can go very far in the competition.”

Meanwhile, Evaristo Mulenga will participate in the men's featherweight boxing preliminary round on July 24 and his opponent is yet to be revealed. 
  
The 22-year-old won a bronze medal at the 2019 African Games and later qualified for the 2020 Olympics by winning the African Qualification Tournament, both at featherweight.
 
His compatriot Stephen Zimba will compete in the men's welterweight boxing preliminary round on July 24 and he is yet to learn his opponent.
 
While Patrick Chinyemba is scheduled to take part in the flyweight boxing preliminary round on July 26 and his opponent is also yet to be disclosed. 
 
Lastly, Kumaren Naidu, who is one of Zambia's most promising swimmers, is set to take part in the swimming, men’s 100m breaststroke heats on July 24.
 
The 23-year-old took part in the 2019 World Championships where he finished 83rd place for the men's 100 m breaststroke.
