2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 19
Levante v Espanyol
Estadio Ciutat de Valencia
Valencia, Spain
Sunday, 11 January 2026
Kick-off is at 17h15
Espanyol will be expected to come away with maximum points when they take on La Liga strugglers Levante at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia on Sunday, January 11.
The Parakeets made life difficult for Barcelona in their first match of 2026, but were ultimately undone by two goals in the final four minutes as the league leaders ran out 2-0 victors.
Manolo Gonzalez's side had won their last three outings of 2025 to keep their top-four hopes alive and they are just five points behind Atletico Madrid in fifth place with a game in hand.
With Los Colchoneros having already played their matchday 19 fixture early last month, Espanyol have an opportunity to ramp up the pressure on them and Villarreal.

The Frogs have found the going tough since gaining promotion back to the Spanish top flight this season and they are firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.
Julian Calero was sacked on November 30 after suffering a fourth straight defeat and recording just two wins in the opening fourth months of the campaign, with Luis Castro appointed his successor on December 20.
Castro kicked off his tenure with a 3-0 victory over Sevilla on January 4 to lift his team off the foot of the table and arrest an eight-match winless run in the process.

Gonzalez bemoaned Espanyol's lack of cutting edge in front of goal in the Catalan derby, insisting they could have beaten the Blaugrana if they'd taken their chances.
"We're angry because we had the game there to be won, and it slipped away from us. We have to change our mentality and not be satisfied just because we played well. Today was a game we should have won, and it got away from us," he said.
"Football is about finishing. No matter how many chances you create, if you don't score from them, you don't deserve to win the game. We defended well for almost the entire match, but when you're not clinical in front of goal, you can't win."
