Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez will be determined to become the first Mexican to win the
Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
What to know about Perez
The 34-year-old has previously driven for Sauber, McLaren, Force India, and Racing Point having made his debut in Formula One in 2010.
Perez won his first Grand Prix driving for Racing Point at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, breaking the record for the number of starts before a race win at 190.
The former Ferrari Driver Academy member finished second in the 2023 Formula One World Drivers' Championship standings.
Why Perez could win the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix
The man who was once known as "The Mexican Wunderkind has won six Grand Prix races and scored 35 podium finishes most of them coming after he joined Red Bull Racing
The 2023 Formula One World Championship season saw Perez win two races namely the Saudi Grand Prix and Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Having finished second in the 2023 Bahrain Gran Prix, the Guadalajara-born star will be keen to go one step further and win this weekend's race.
What did he say?
“I don’t really think that we’ve had much of a look [at our rivals] in that regard,” Perez said on Day two of 2024 pre-season testing in Bahrain
“At the moment we’re basically focused on our job, we’ve been so busy with our programme. I think tomorrow, there will be a bit more of an idea
"But I think we will find out next Sunday [following the Bahrain Grand Prix].”
