2025 Africa Cup of Nations
Group A
Zambia v Comoros
Mohammed V Stadium
Casablanca, Morocco
Friday, 26 December 2025
Kick-off is at 19h30
Zambia will go in search of their first win in the Africa Cup of Nations since being crowned 2012 champions when they face Comoros at the Mohammed V Stadium on Friday, December 26.
The Copper Bullets won their one and only title 13 years ago, but they've found the going tough on Africa's biggest stage following that impressive feat in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Chipolopolo failed to progress beyond the group stages in the 2013, 2015 and 2023 editions, while they didn't even qualify for the tournament in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
What's even worse is that the Southern Africans went winless in all nine of their group games prior to AFCON 2025 and that trend continued with a 1-1 draw against Mali in their opening match on December 22.

Comoros are making only their second appearance at the continental showpiece after reaching their round of 16 as debutants in Ivory Coast three years ago.
The Coelacanths surprised many by topping Group A in qualifying after going unbeaten in their six games (three wins and three draws) and finishing two points ahead of Tunisia.
Stefano Cusin's side warmed up for AFCON by competing in the Arab Cup, although they didn't make much of an impression after losing all three of their group matches against Morocco (3-1), Saudi Arabia (3-1) and Oman (2-1).

Zambia head coach Moses Sichone was encouraged by their performance against the Eagles, but admits they cannot afford a repeat of the mistake which led to Lassine Sinayoko's opening goal on 61 minutes.
"My players did a good job against Mali. It was our opening match and it was not easy," Sichone said. "We conceded a goal at an unexpected moment - a gift we gave away - and that is something we must correct.
"We are in a very competitive group, and I congratulate Morocco on their win against Comoros. Our next opponent, Comoros, put in a solid performance.
"We will prepare well and continue to work. We have our strengths and players who are ready."
