The Cityzens were handed an extended break due to their involvement in the UEFA Champions League and will be aiming to get off to the perfect start against a team that caused them a lot of problems last season.

City lost home and away to Wolves in the 2019/20 campaign with a 2-0 loss at Etihad Stadium followed by a 3-2 defeat in the corresponding fixture last season. Adama Traore scored three goals over the two matches and he will be amongst the obvious threats posed by the hosts once again.

Wolves kicked-off their season with a commanding 2-0 win over Sheffield United with Raul Jimenez and Romain Saiss on target for the West Midlands club.

For the fans

"It has been an amazing three seasons," said Wolves head coach Nuno Espírito Santo who recently penned a new three-year deal.

"I think we create something really special - the identity, the core of the squad, the bonds between us, this is how we operate but we have to stay humble."

Pep Guardiola could hand debuts to new signings Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres while Wolves' Fabio Silva will be aiming to make a first Premier League appearance after failing to come off the bench at Bramall Lane.
