Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi will go into the
Austrian MotoGP this coming weekend with a spring in his step after completing an impressive podium finish in Czechia.
After a +1.753s placing behind race winner Marc Marquez at Brno last month, Bezzecchi took to the podium for the third time on the GP25 calendar.
As it stands, Bezzecchi is currently fourth on the Rider’s list and has now accumulated 156 points so far this season.
Bezzecchi has one win under his belt so far this season after claiming first place at the UK MotoGP, where he finished +4.088s ahead of Repsol Honda rider Johann Zarco.
Speaking after his P2 finish at the Masaryk Circuit on 20 July, Bezzechi described the race as ‘fun’ after he bravely overtook Fabio Quartararo on the first lap.
“It was a fun race,” Bezzecchi said.
“A very good race. The start was good and, compared to yesterday, I studied a bit more the strategy for where to place myself in the first couple of corners.
“I was able to make a fantastic overtake on Fabio [Quartararo] on the outside of turn three – it was really crazy.
“All the risks that I could take during the race, I sum everything and I put it in one corner that was that turn three.
“It was the key moment because, after, I was able to go in the front and, for the front tyre especially, it was crucial because this track was really demanding on the front.”
