Aston Villa will square off with Newcastle United in their opening
Premier League match at Villa Park on August 16.
Current Form
Villa beat Villarreal CF 2-0 in a friendly match on August 10, but they saw their three-match unbeaten run in the league come to an end when they lost to Manchester United on May 25.
However, Villa are undefeated in their last 20 home matches in the league, having registered 13 wins and seven draws at Villa Park.
Meanwhile, Newcastle suffered a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in a friendly match on August 9 and they are winless in their last two matches in the Premier League.
The Magpies are also winless in their last three away matches in the league, having recorded two defeats and one draw on the road.
Team News
Ross Barkley, Morgan Rogers and Andres Garcia are all on Villa's injury list, and Emiliano Martinez will be absent against Newcastle due to a suspension.
Newcastle, on the other hand, do not have any suspension concerns, but Anthony Gordon and Joseph Willock are on the team's injury list and Alexander Isak's future is uncertain.
