The Gunners returned to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Leeds United last weekend. Club captain Pierre-Emerick scored a hat-trick, his first in the Premier League, on his return to the starting eleven.

Mikel Arteta admitted that Arsenal had missed Aubameyang's influence as they now set their sights on City, a team the Spanish coach knows well following his time working under Pep Guardiola at Etihad Stadium.

"We have been missing his goals and him at his best," Arteta said of Aubameyang. "He has been training after a difficult period with a family issue and we had a feeling he could be key in this game.

"He set the tone for the team up top."

City, who are in action away to Everton on Wednesday evening before making the trip to Emirates Stadium, stretched their winning run in the league to 11 matches with a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Ilkay Gundogan scored a well-taken brace to lead the Cityzens seven points clear of second-placed Manchester United.

"I wouldn't change any player that we have right now today, in this season. All of them," said City manager Pep Guardiola.

"We had a moment when we were in 12th position in the table, we were five points away from Tottenham [and eight after the loss] who were top of the league when we lost there and now we are 17 points ahead of them.

"So that means consistency, how we turned over this situation, and that means a lot. Maybe that won't be enough to win the title, but what we enjoyed the last two months belongs to us."

City eased to a 4-1 win over Arsenal in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Gabriel Jesus and Alexandre Lacazette scored for their respective teams in the first-half before goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and  Aymeric Laporte sealed a comfortable victory for the Manchester club.
