Barcelona will continue their charge for the
La Liga title when they go up against Celta Vigo at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium on Saturday, 19 April.
Barca are four points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the league standings, and have to avoid dropping points as the season nears its end.
Having recently narrowly won 1-0 over Leganes, the Catalan giants are also on the brink of European success as they are set to go up against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League as well.
"I am proud of the commitment and resilience the team has shown in recent weeks. There is still work to do on both ends of the pitch, but today's result [against Leganes] was an important step forward,” says head coach Hansi Flick about their progress.
“When you see the load the players have in the last couple of weeks, after the international break ... what they did, the performances, it’s unbelievable.”
They’ve also received another boost with key player Dani Olmo making a return to the squad from injury.
As for Celta Vigo, they are placed seventh in the log and are looking to qualify in a European spot for next season.
Midfielder Hugo Alvarez has had some delays in his return to the team, explaining that he has experienced a lingering discomfort in his knee. Coach Claudio Giraldez recently addressed the situation in a press conference.
“Training is one thing; playing is another. He is improving, but he does have some discomfort that has limited his comfort on the field,” he said.
“This is an injury he has never encountered before, affecting his knee and impacting his ability to strike the ball with his right foot.”
