2019-20 Serie A
Stats feature
The 2019-20 Serie A season was suspended in March, with most teams having played 26 of their scheduled 38 matches. We take a closer look at the campaign’s most salient statistics thus far.
1 – Juventus hold a narrow one-point lead over Lazio at the top of the Serie A log. “Awarding the Scudetto to Juventus? The players would be the first not to accept it, if we don’t resume the season we will have to find how to carry on this situation. Juve are the favourites because they’re currently in first, but we’ll see how it ends,” said former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio.
746 – The total number of goals scored in the 2019-20 Serie A season, at an average of 2.91 per match. The 2018-19 season produced 1019 goals at 2.68 per match.
124 – The number of scheduled matches remaining in the 2019-20 season.

7 – Atalanta boast the 2019-20 season’s biggest home win, biggest away win and highest-scoring game... and they scored seven goals in each! 7-1 at home to Udinese on 27 October 2019, 7-0 away to Torino on 25 January 2020 and 7-2 over Lecce on 1 March 2020.
3 – Each of Atalanta’s seven-goal romps saw a player score a hat-trick: Luis Muriel in the 7-1 v Udinese, Josip Ilicic in the 7-0 v Torino and Duvan Zapata in the 7-2 v Lecce.
39 – The combined number of Serie A goals scored by the Atalanta trio of Luis Muriel, Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata. To put that in perspective, 12 of the 20 Serie A teams have not reached that mark so far this season.

36 – The Serie A record for the most goals in a season is 36, set by Gonzalo Higuain in 2015-16. Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, who tops the scorers’ chart this term with 27, is hoping to equal or better that mark: "I'm training hard to achieve this goal. Everyone has their own. It would be nice. It's like the Easter egg. We'll see what the surprise will be when we get back on the field. I'll do my best."
21 – Lazio have put together a run of 21 matches unbeaten, stretching from a 4-0 win over Genoa on 29 September 2019 up to and including a 2-0 win over Bologna on 29 February 2020 – their last match before the season was suspended.
2000 – The year in which Lazio last won the Serie A title.
