With Sassuolo facing an upward trajectory in form heading into March, Fabio Grosso’s charges could record their fourth win on the bounce when they take on Lazio in Rome next Monday.
As it stands, Sassuolo are just above Lazio — sitting in 9th place with 38 points from 27 matches. Their campaign so far has seen them earn 11 wins, 5 draws and 11 losses across the season. Lazio trail close behind in 11th with 34 points after 27 games played.
Sassuolo’s most recent Serie A match saw them come away with a 2–1 win over Atalanta this past weekend, putting them within nine points of Juventus in sixth position. Lazio’s latest league quest ended in a 2–0 defeat to Torino, in what was their ninth defeat of the campaign.
Sitting in the bottom half of the table, Lazio are 10 points away from the relegation zone, having recorded one win, two losses and two draws in their last five.
Sassuolo on the other hand, won each of their last three league games, recording five victories and one defeat in their previous handful.

Reflecting on Sassuolo’s rise in form, Grosso expressed that his side has been seeking a top performance this season and labelled their win over Atalanta as the ‘icing on the cake’.
“It was a crazy game. The lads wrote their names in the history books of this club,” Grosso said.
“We had been looking for the icing on the cake, and this was the icing with a big cherry on top. Our opponents were coming off the Champions League, but are also very strong. Our defenders were solid, determined, it’s not easy to keep that concentration for 90 minutes.
“We’re glad to have picked up some important points, and to achieve it with a performance like this.”
