After qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations final for the first time in 21 years, host nation Morocco stand the chance of claiming their second AFCON trophy when they take on Senegal at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Saturday.
Morocco were one of nine nations to go unbeaten in the group phase of the tournament, after finishing first in Group A ahead of Mali, Comoros and Zambia.
The Atlas Lions took on Tanzania in the Round of 16, where Brahim Diaz scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 win at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on 4 January.
Morocco then overcame a star-studded Cameroon side in the quarter-finals via a 2-0 victory at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium three days later. It was in the semi-finals where things got interesting for the host country where they took on Nigeria in Rabat on Wednesday night.
While the game ended 0-0 following 120 minutes of football at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, missed penalties by Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi saw the Atlas Lions claim a 4-2 win via spot kicks.

Reflecting on Morocco’s path at the AFCON so far, coach Walid Regragui expressed that his side suffered throughout the showpiece and described their final berth as a ‘gift’.
“We suffered a lot, and reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final on home soil is a beautiful gift,” the Atlas Lions mentor said.
"Now we must think about physical recovery quickly because we made a huge effort. We played extra time, the match was difficult, and it consumed a lot of energy.
“I congratulate the Nigerian national team and coach Eric Chelle for the great work they have done, and I congratulate our players and fans as well, because we all fought together without exception.”
