The United States and Netherlands will battle for Women’s World Cup glory when they meet in the final on Sunday 7 July 2019 at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Decines-Charpieu. Kick-off is at 17:00.
The US have enjoyed impressive progression to a third straight final. They topped Group F with a perfect record and in the knockout rounds have defeated increasingly challenging opponents: Spain, hosts France and one of their fellow tournament favourites England – all by a 2-1 score line.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, topped Group E (also with three wins) before going on to defeat Japan (2-1), Italy (2-0) and Sweden (1-0 after extra time) to reach their first-ever Women’s World Cup final.
The States and Stripes start as clear favourites, with coach Jill Ellis looking to win a second Women’s World Cup itle after their triumph in 2015.
Yet Oranje and coach Sarina Wiegman have shown remarkable development and will fancy their chances of upsetting the Americans.
