FC Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati took La Liga by storm in his debut season as a professional footballer.

The forward signed his first professional contract with Barcelona, agreeing to a deal until 2022 as a 16-year-old ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Aged 16 years and 298 days on 25 August 2019, Fati became the second-youngest player to debut for the club, only 18 days older than Vicenc Martinez in 1941.

The diminutive player achieved this feat when he came on as a late-game substitute for goalscorer Carles Perez in a 5-2 home win over Real Betis.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Fati then became the Barcelona first team's youngest goalscorer ever and the third-youngest scorer in the history of La Liga.

This was when he scored his first professional goal in a 2-2 away draw between Barcelona and Osasuna at the age of 16 years and 304 days on 31 August 2019.

The Spain under-21 international continued to break records as he became the youngest player in the history of La Liga to score and assist in the same match, at the age of 16 years and 318 days.

Fati scored in the second minute and assisted Frenkie de Jong's goal in the seventh minute of an eventual 5-2 home win against Valencia on 14 September 2019 in what was his first career start.

The teenager then signed a new and improved contract at Barca in December 2019 and he said: "Working every day with the best is a dream, and also a reward."

“From now onwards, what I have to do is keep working, even harder than ever, to keep getting chances and carry on enjoying myself. The rest will come after.”

A speedy player with an eye for goals, Fati grabbed a brace for Barca as they secured a 2-1 win over Levante UD in February 2020.

Therefore, the former Sevilla academy player, who enjoys cutting inside from the left flank, became the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga, scoring both goals.

Before scoring the 9,000th in Barcelona's history when they defeated Villarreal away as he scored the fourth goal in the 4-1 win in July 2020.

The immensely talented player finished the season with seven goals from 24 matches in what was a dream campaign in La Liga.
