Bayern Munich will be geared for a battle against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium when the teams meet for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal on the evening of Tuesday 7 April 2026, kick-off at 21:00.
Bayern earned their place in the final eight with an emphatic 10-2 aggregate win over Atalanta in the previous round. The Bavarian heavyweights claimed a 6-1 away win in Bergamo in the first-leg – with star striker Harry Kane not even playing. However, the Englishman was back in action for the return game in Germany, scoring twice in a 4-1 victory.

As six-time winners of the European Cup/Champions League, Bayern are rightly considered one of the continent’s heavyweights, but even they know that overcoming Real Madrid (record 15-time winners of the competition) represents a mountain to climb.
“It's going to be a big game for sure,” said Kane. “Bayern Munich against Real Madrid, two of the biggest teams in Europe, in the quarterfinals. We'll prepare like we do for every game. We'll look at their strengths and weaknesses and try to exploit them. We have a way of playing that doesn't change much, no matter who we play. It'll be no different in the quarterfinals.”
Bayern moved a step closer to winning the Bundesliga title with a 3-2 away win over SC Freiburg this past weekend. They did so without Kane, who has been recovering from an ankle injury but is expected to be fit to face Real on Tuesday.

In head-to-head stats, Real and Bayern have met in 28 matches in UEFA competitions. Los Blancos have claimed 13 wins compared to 11 for the Bavarians, with four games drawn.
The teams last met in the semifinals of the 2023-24 Champions League, with Real claiming a 4-3 aggregate triumph across the two legs.
