Elena Rybakina will be looking to win her third singles Grand Slam title by clinching the US Open.
What to know about Rybakina
The Kazakhstani star has won 13 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including two majors: the 2022 Wimbledon Championships and the 2026 Australian Open.
Rybakina also won the 2025 WTA Finals and two WTA 1000 events and reached one other Grand Slam final (2023 Australian Open).

The last time Rybakina was in action was at the 2026 Cincinnati Open, where she was forced to retire in the quarter-finals against Iga Świątek due to injury on 21 August.
The 27-year-old has a career-high ranking of world No. 2 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and it is her current position coming into the 2026 US Open.
Why Rybakina could win the US Open
The Moscow-born athlete will be determined to claim her first US Open title and potentially overtake Aryna Sabalenka for the world No. 1 ranking.
Rybakina, who boasts two singles Grand Slam titles, will also be keen to show why she is ranked as one of the world's best female tennis players currently.

"Well, it's definitely a goal [reaching World No. 1]. But it depends, of course, on how the other players are going to compete and what results they get," Rybakina said regarding her 2026 targets.
"The season is so long that I know there is no time to stop, stop working. You need to improve every day... Definitely that's the goal, to go higher in the ranking, to win another Grand Slam."
