Sunday, 18 September 2022

The 2022 Aragon Grand Prix or Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragón will take place in Alcañiz, Spain on September 18.

This will be the 15th round of this year's Championship and it will take place at the MotorLand Aragón which was designed by German architect Hermann Tilke.

Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati won last year's Aragon MotoGP with Honda's Marc Marquez and Suzuki rider Joan Mir finishing second and third respectively.

The most recent race in the 2022 MotoGP campaign was the San Marino MotoGP which took place on September 4.

Bagnaia, who has been competing in the MotoGP since 2019, won the 2022 San Marino MotoGP as he maintained his great form in the current season.

Enea Bastianini of Ducati finished second behind Bagnaia, while Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales secured a third spot finish in a memorable race.

Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha is still sitting at the top of the table with 211 points as he looks to successfully retain the MotoGP world title.

While Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia are placed second and third, on the standings with 181 points and 178 points respectively.

“I had a strange feeling with the tyres at the beginning, as they didn’t get into perfect temperature," Bastianini, who is placed fourth on the Riders' standings with 138 points, said after the San Marino MotoGP.

"From halfway point I was then able to find back the right feeling. I tried all I could until the end, first at turn 14 and then at the last corner I wanted to win, but I had made a mistake before.

"And then towards the finish line Pecco [Bagnaia] closed the door shut and there was nothing I could do. It’s great to be on the podium with this livery and on such a special circuit for me.”

Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Aprilia respectively.
